Our full-care hospital in the Central Valley is one of the largest employers in Stanislaus County with approximately 2,400 employees and more than 200 volunteers. We admit more than 19,000 patients annually and treat more than 51,000 patients in the Emergency Department each year. The scope of services includes cardiology, neurology, emergency and trauma services, air ambulance, women and childrens services, orthopedics, medical/surgical, oncology, and critical/intensive care.
We are seeking an experienced Health Information Manager. Must have a Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management and be Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and have Five (5) years supervisory experience in the Health Information Management Department in an acute care hospital setting.
You will plan, develop and directs health information management consistent with the standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies. This position has direct responsibility for the operations of the Health Information Management department to include supervision of staff. Management of these resources includes the ability to hire, develop, motivate, train and discipline staff. Responsible to oversee the development and implementation of policies & procedures for documenting, storing, and retrieving information and for processing information requests consistent with Federal, State and local statutes. To assist with ensuring the compliance to, and activities associated with, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Minimum Qualifications:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Five (5) years supervisory experience in the Health Information Management Department in an acute care hospital setting.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission Information Management Standards.
Successful completion, with a grade C or better, of a college level medical terminology course or the equivalent. (This requirement may be met within the first year of employment, depending upon the applicants prior experience.)
Successful completion, with a grade C or better, of a college level anatomy and physiology course, or the equivalent. (This requirement may be met within the first year of employment, depending on the applicants prior experience.)
Must be able to effectively manage a minimum of forty (40) employees.
Must demonstrate excellent written/verbal in interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to manage own time and schedule own tasks. Must have initiative to work efficiently without constant supervision and direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Experience as the manager of Health Information Management in an acute care hospital
Previous experience with The Joint Commission Survey process
